White Camellia: Nature-Healing Ornamental Treasure
White camellia, scientifically known as Camellia amplexicaulis, is a rare variety in the Camellia family. Compared to red or yellow camellia lines, white camellia possesses a gentle, pure beauty, and is even rarer. In 2022, this plant was once inflated to billions of VND/plant during the rare plant collection craze. However, according to Mr. Nguyen Van Bien - Director of Tam Dao Seedling Center (Vinh Phuc), most of those prices were virtual, pushed up by mutant orchid collectors at that time.
Currently, the actual price of a good white camellia tree ranges from only 4 - 5 million VND for a small tree, and about 20 - 30 million VND for an old tree with a large trunk. Although no longer "expensive as gold", white camellia is still treasured by flower lovers, not only for its beauty but also for its feng shui meaning symbolizing prosperity, wealth, and nobility.

Compared to red or yellow camellias, the white variety stands out with its delicate, pure beauty — and is the rarest of them all. |
Not only is it a valuable ornamental plant, white camellia also plays an important role in forest protection and restoration. As a shade-loving plant, white camellia is suitable for intercropping under the canopy of natural forests or perennial plantations. While waiting for the main tree to grow, farmers can have a stable income from camellia, a new direction for the agroforestry model.
In particular, intercropping native species such as camellia helps increase green cover, improve the structure of the forest canopy, creating living conditions for many species of animals and plants. The strong root system of the tree helps to retain soil, prevent erosion in mountainous areas, and when the leaves fall, they become a source of natural organic fertilizer, helping to improve soil quality and retain moisture better.
According to Mr. Bien, planting white camellia not only contributes to "healing" damaged forests but is also a way to "beautify" nature in a sustainable way, harmonizing human and environmental benefits.

Beyond its value as a rare ornamental plant, the white camellia contributes significantly to forest conservation and recovery. |
In the context of increasingly obvious climate change, choosing plants that are both economically valuable and ecologically friendly such as white camellia is becoming a new green living trend. Each blooming flower not only brings elegant beauty to the garden, but also contributes a small part to the protection of the "green lungs" of the planet.
From an ornamental plant that once made waves in the market, white camellia is quietly entering life in a more sustainable and kind way. It is the beauty of returning to its true value, and also a gentle reminder of our responsibility to nature - as a way to live beautifully, deeply and greenly.
